The Croatian-born Tomljanovic, who started officially representing Australia in WTA tournaments this season, had to sit out the entire 2016 season due to shoulder surgery and the subsequent rehab. Her rank dropped to #964 in January 2017.
14 months into her comeback, former world #47 Tomljanovic finds herself inside the top 100 once again.
Tomljanovic reached three ITF finals last year (Sacramento, Waco, and Dubai) and this year, semifinals of two WTA $125k events, Newport Beach and Indian Wells.

Anna Blinkova’s first-round win over Rebecca Peterson got complicated and extended by an hour after the Russian failed to serve out the match in the second set. Nonetheless, she broke the Swede’s serve twice in the decider to seal the win.
The 19-year-old Blinkova is the youngest player in the main draw and a debutante at Monterrey. Last week, she won a $60,000 ITF at Croissy-Beaubourg (France). Two days later, she is playing at Mexico, several time-zones to the west.
In February, the teenager secured a couple of impressive wins over Vesnina and Mladenovic to reach the third round of Doha (Premier 5). The third round clash against #7 Garcia stretched to nearly two hours, but she lost in two close sets, 7-6 7-5.
