Hyeon Chung could not produce his best tennis during his first meeting with the World #1 at the Australian Open earlier this season (1-6 2-5, retired), but he seems to have recovered from the injury to an extent and also he has got the ability to put the extra ball back (like his Idol Djokovic), the kind of tennis that has greatly troubled Federer in the past and could trouble him again here on Thursday.

Hyeon Chung, who failed in the first round in his only previous appearance at the Indian Wells (2016), got a bit fortunate this week as he was drawn against Dusan Lajovic and Pablo Cuevas in the first and third round, respectively.
The Korean has never played a quarterfinal match in an ATP Masters event before, but he made four quarterfinal appearances on tour in 2018 (from five tournaments, excluding Indian Wells), won one and lost three.
