Rogers Cup 2018
Between August 06-12, 2018, the Rogers Cup, the annual men’s and women’s tennis tournaments are held in Canada. As before, men’s and women’s tournaments are held in different cities, but at the same time. In the even years, the women’s tournament is played in Montreal, and the men’s tournament is played in Toronto. In odd years – all the way around. In 2018, the men’s tennis tournament is held in Toronto (ATP Masters Toronto). The tournament is held during the week, until August 12, and its prize fund is $ 5,315,025💰

The Tennis Tournament in Canada

The Men’s Tennis Tournament in Canada, the direct predecessor of the Canada Masters, has been held annually since 1881 (except for years of two world wars only), being one of the three oldest regular tennis tournaments along with Wimbledon and the US Open. Until 1968, the tournament wore a rather trivial name – the National Championship of Canada. But after that, for many years, the Canadian Masters was sponsored by various manufacturers of tobacco products and wore the corresponding names. In the 1970s, the main sponsor was Rothmans International, in the 1980s – Player’s Limited, from 1997 to 2000 – Du Maurier. However, then the law that prohibits advertising of tobacco products came into effect in Canada, and the new main sponsor was the Rogers company. Since 2005, the telecommunications giant has been sponsoring a men’s tournament.

There are two tennis complexes in the “property” of the Rogers Cup, in Montreal and Toronto – Stade Uniprix and Rexall Center, respectively. Stade Uniprix was commissioned in Montreal in 1996. Prior to this, the homonymous main court of the complex was the home stadium of the Montreal Expos baseball team, but after reconstruction it turned into a luxurious tennis arena. Stade Uniprix, the main court, accommodates 11,700 spectators. Rexall Center, built in Toronto, is a complete tennis facility. Opened in 2004, it, like the Montreal complex, is equipped with 12 courts with the same coverage as the US Open. The central arena holds 12,500 people. The very first match, which was played at the main stadium, was a duel between the first round between Andre Agassi and Tommy Haas – it gathered 10,500 spectators. Also the offices of the Federation of Tennis Canada and the Tennis Association of Ontario are in the complex.

ATP Masters Toronto is held on hard court (on the courts of Rexall Center) and included ATP in the number of mandatory tournaments. And so all the strongest male players continue to participate in it. The winner of the tournament receives 1000 rating points. This tournament is considered as preparation for the fourth tournament of the series of the grand slam – US Open.

Betting on the Rogers Cup 2018

Novak Djokovic

Since Federer has announced his withdrawal from Toronto, if you consider the favourites at this tournament, then in the first place – it’s Novak Djokovic. The Serbian tennis player has been the most stable player of the ATP tour for several years already. Moreover, the hard court is one of his favourites. And although it will be his first tournament after the triumph at Wimbledon, Novak very quickly adapts to new coatings.

The main competitors of Djokovic will be Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, Andy Murray and Marin Cilic. All these masters of the racket show good tennis during the season. And who of them is in the best shape at the moment, will be seen in the first matches in the tournament.
