Andreas Seppi will be making his debut at Marrakech when he takes on Radu Albot this Wednesday. This is his first match on tour since losing to Roger Federer in the semifinal of ATP Rotterdam in February 2018.
Andreas Seppi must be disappointed after failing to help Italy progress into the Davis Cup World Group semifinal a few days back. The Italian lost the first rubber to Lucas Pouille despite fighting back from two sets down to force a decider, 3-6 2-6 6-4 6-3 1-6.
The Davis Cup tie between Italy and France was played on the clay courts, and it should help Seppi to settle in quickly during his first round match at Marrakech. Over the last five seasons, Andreas Seppi has lost more matches on clay than he actually won, 25/40.
Though he has lost both of his Davis Cup matches in 2018, Seppi is having a good time on tour considering he finished the 2016 and 2017 season with a minus w/l ratio. After playing six consecutive tournaments in the North America (USA x 5 and Mexico x 1), Radu Albot now travels to Africa to make his third consecutive main draw appearance at ATP Marrakech.
The Moldovan has lost six of his last seven matches with that sole win coming against Ricardas Berankis in the first round of Miami Open. In fact, his 2018 tally is still in the negative zone, 5/10.
Making his Marrakech debut in 2016, Radu Albot lost his first round match to Nicolas Almagro but defeated the same player in the following year before losing to Benoit Paire in the second round.
