Antonia Lottner vs Mihaela Buzarnescu Tennis Prediction

Buzarnescu will start off as the favorite against Lottner as they take on each other for the first time. The only left-handed player Lottner has ever played on tour is former #7 Schnyder, whom she defeated at 2017 Gstaad to reach her first WTA quarterfinal.

Mihaela Buzarnescu News

Mihaela Buzarnescu kick-starts her debut Prague campaign by defeating the Brazilian #1 Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets (6-1 7-5). In the second set, she found herself in trouble, going down a break, but was still able to wrap the match in under 90 minutes.
Twelve months ago, the Romanian #3 was ranked outside top 400 (currently #47) and was playing a $25k ITF at Khimki (Russia). Since then, she has broken several milestones as part of her meteoric rise, including reaching a WTA final (Hobart, l. to Mertens).
Buzarnescu secured the biggest win of her career when she defeated world #6 and the French Open champion Ostapenko in straight sets, 6-1 6-3, in just 65 minutes at Doha. However, since then, she could only secure two wins in the next eight matches.

Antonia Lottner News

Antonia Lottner caused a big upset at Prague as she knocked out the defending champion Mona Barthel in straight sets (6-0 7-5). Lottner faced tougher resistance from Barthel (struggling with back issues) as she was broken twice by the fellow German.
This is Lottner’s third-best win-by-ranking, after having defeated #6 Cibulkova at 2017 ‘s-Hertogenbosch and #46 Sasnovich at 2018 Fed Cup WG I Play-offs. The win over Cibulkova was also the 21-year-old’s first WTA main draw victory.
Lottner, who ended the 2017 season with her biggest final (WTA $125k Limoges, l. to Niculescu), started the new season in a cold fashion. In the first four months of play, she could only secure three wins in total, two of which were qualifying matches.
