Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Borna Coric Tennis Prediction

Borna Coric took advantage of Alexander Zverev’s current fitness issues with a dominant straight set win over the home favorite, 6-1 6-4. The Croatian served four aces and won only 65% of his first serve points during this comfortable win.
With this win, the 21-year-old Borna Coric equaled his best ATP Halle result which he posted in 2015 by defeating Donald Young in the first round before losing to Tomas Berdych in the round of 16.
The straight set win against Alexander Zverev is arguably Borna Coric’s career-best performance on grass. He has got a terrible record on this surface having gone 4/11 so far in his career and has never progressed beyond the second round or round of 16 at any grass tournaments.
Nikoloz Basilashvili, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser, knocked out the German teenager Rudolf Molleker in straight sets to progress into the second round of ATP Halle for the first time in his career.
It was a much-needed win for the Georgian #1 considering he was going through a three-match losing run before entering ATP Halle this week and moreover, he failed in the qualifying stages during his only previous appearance in this tournament (in 2016).
Only once in his career, Nikoloz Basilashvili had managed to win more than one match in a grass tournament, when he won five matches as a qualifier in Wimbledon (R3) 2015. His career w/l record on this surface stands at 9/12.
Borna Coric defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round of ATP Doha earlier this season to register his first win over the Georgian in three attempts (trails H2H 1-2). Though Coric is by far the better player, there isn’t much between them on grass which makes this an even contest.

Tennis Prediction: Borna Coric 2-0 SET
Odds: 1.65
