Matteo Berrettini vs Alexander Zverev Tennis Prediction

Alexander Zverev is in great form at the moment and will start as the overwhelming favorite in his first-ever meeting with Matteo Berrettini. But there is a chance the German could be tired (13 matches in the last four weeks) which should give a glimmer of hope for the Italian wildcard.

Alexander Zverev News

Alexander Zverev followed up his Munich title by winning the third Masters 1000 title of his career in Madrid last week. He got a favorable draw in Madrid up until the Final, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
The German is currently on a nine-match winning run, and impressively, his serve wasn’t broken in any of those five matches he played in Madrid. In fact, he just exposed one break point chance in the entire week, against Leonardo Mayer.
Zverev, who successfully defended his Munich title two weeks back, is now entering the Rome Masters in an attempt to the defend the title that he won here in 2017. Rome Masters is one of the three Masters 1000 titles that he has won so far in his young career (Montreal and Madrid).
Entering the main draw as the 16th seed here in 2017 (seeded #2 this week), Alexander Zverev defeated the likes of Milos Raonic, John Isner and Novak Djokovic (F) to lift the maiden Masters title of his career.
Just like in 2018, Zverev won the title in Munich, made the quarterfinal in Madrid and won the title in Rome before entering the French Open 2017 where he faced a first-round exit. He put on a similar run at Washington and Montreal before entering the US Open 2017 where he again suffered an early exit (R2). It will be interesting to see how he approaches the French Open this time around.

Matteo Berrettini News

Wildcard entrant Matteo Berrettini knocked out the talented American Francis Tiafoe in straight sets to register his first-ever win in the Rome Masters, 6-3 7-6.
Making his Rome debut in 2017 with a wildcard, Matteo Berrettini lost his first round match to compatriot Fabio Fognini in straight sets. The win against Tiafoe was also the Italian’s first-ever main draw win in an ATP Masters 1000 event.
While Zverev has won 27 matches (27/10) so far in 2018, Matteo Berrettini has won 23 from 36 outings (most of them coming in Challengers). This run includes a title at Bergamo Challenger, semifinal at Cherbourg Challenger, a runner-up finish at Irving Challenger and round of 16 at Budapest (as a qualifier).
