Dominic Thiem vs Ilya Ivashka Tennis Prediction

Ivashka has done exceptionally well in the Challenger circuits over the last three seasons but facing Dominic Thiem on the slow clay courts is going to be extremely difficult for the French Open main draw debutant.

Dominic Thiem News

Dominic Thiem may live to regret his decision of competing at the rain-interrupted ATP Tour event in Lyon last week while the other French Open title contenders (Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, etc.) took a one week break after participating in the Madrid and Rome Masters.
The Austrian #1 won the tenth tour title of his career (eighth in ATP 250 series) by lifting the title at ATP Lyon last week. It was also his second title of the season, having previously won the ATP Buenos Aires in February 2018 (clay).
Dominic Thiem recovered from a set down against Guillermo Garcia Lopez in the quarterfinal (the third set was played on Friday), won a closely fought three-set semifinal match against Dusan Lajovic (played on Friday) and fought back from a set and break down against Gilles Simon in the final (played on Saturday). He just got a one day break in which he had to travel from Lyon to Paris (466 KM) and kickstart his French Open campaign on Monday.
After failing in the second round of French Open in 2014 and 2015, Dominic Thiem progressed to the semifinal for two consecutive seasons in 2016 and 2017, losing to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, respectively.

Ilya Ivashka News

Ilya Ivashka defeated Joao Domingues, Viktor Galovic, and Sergiy Stakhovsky in the qualifying stages to progress into the main draw of French Open for the first time in his career. Making his French Open debut in 2017, he failed in the qualifying stages against Marius Copil.
The Belarusian youngster’s only previous main draw appearance in a grand slam came in the US Open 2016 when he was taken down in straight sets by Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round.
Ilya Ivashka, who has won 27 matches so far in 2018 (three less than Thiem), posted his career-best result on tour by progressing to the semifinal of ATP Marseille in February 2018.
