Roger Federer vs Dusan Lajovic

Roger Federer once again lost the #1 ranking to Rafael Nadal after failing to defend the title at ATP Halle two weeks back. The 2018 Australian Open champion was stunned by the Croatian youngster Borna Coric in the final of ATP Halle, which also ended the Swiss #1’s 19-match winning run on grass.
Roger Federer, who did not look convincing in any of the nine matches he played on grass this season, has gone 8/1 on this surface including lifting his maiden ATP Stuttgart title. Federer dropped just two sets during the entire grass season in 2017 (against Tommy Haas) but has already lost five sets in 2018, against Mischa Zverev, Nick Kyrgios, Benoit Paire and Borna Coric.
The 36-year-old Roger Federer skipped the entire clay swing to give himself the best chance to defend his Wimbledon title. In 2017, he lifted the Wimbledon title for the eighth time in his career and for the first time since 2012.
Playing his first grass tournament of the season at ATP Antalya last week, Dusan Lajovic defeated the qualifier Filip Horansky in the first round but lost to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round. He will now make his sixth appearance in Wimbledon, hoping to register only his third main draw win.
After failing to win his first-round match at the Australian Open earlier this season (against Diego Schwartzman), Dusan Lajovic defeated Jiri Vesely in the first round of the French Open before losing a closely fought second round match to Alexander Zverev. The Serbian’s previous two defeats in grand slams have come in five sets.
These two players met once in the second round of Wimbledon 2017 when Roger Federer recovered from an early break to secure the win in straight sets. Roger Federer is not just the favorite to win this match but also to win the title at Wimbledon this fortnight. However, he is not playing his best tennis at the moment which gives Dusan Lajovic an excellent chance to become the first player to win a set against Roger Federer in Wimbledon since Milos Raonic in 2016.
