Garbine Muguruza vs Samantha Stosur Tennis Prediction

Garbine Muguruza got decent resistance from world #257 and local wildcard Fiona Ferro in the second round. The Frenchwoman broke the Spaniard once in each set, but Muguruza replied with 26 winners and finishing the match 6-4 6-3 under 90 minutes.
Muguruza started her campaign with a 7-6 6-2 win over Svetlana Kuznetsova. This is the third year in succession that she has met a former champion of the French Open at Paris, having defeated Schiavone in 2017 first round and S. Williams in 2016 final.
The former #1, who entered Paris with a 2-3 clay season, is now seeking her fourth consecutive round of 16 appearance at this slam. She has a 10-1 record in Grand Slam third round matches, with the sole loss coming at 2016 Australian Open (l. Strycova).
Samantha Stosur knocked out 30th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 6-2 7-6, to secure her third top 30 win of 2018. The Aussie recovered from a break deficit in the second set to beat the newly-crowned Strasbourg champion, the title Stosur won in 2017.
Stosur, a former finalist (2010, l. Schiavone) and semifinalist on three other occasions, is entering this fortnight as world #90, her lowest ranking since July 2008 when she was #107. She needs one more win at Paris to ensure her stay in the top 100 rankings.
The Australian is yet to win a top 20 match in 2018. Moreover, the former US Open champion has not beaten a top 10 player since defeating #6 Halep at 2016 French Open. Since then, she is on a ten-match losing streak against such players.
Muguruza leads the past meetings with Stosur by 2-1. They had met at the French Open in 2016 when the Spaniard won in straight sets. At their latest meeting (2017 Brisbane), Muguruza came back from 2-4 deficit in the third set to beat the Australian.
