Larsson’s last defeat in a WTA tournament to a player ranked lower than Grammatikopoulou was in 2016 Rio de Janeiro against #285 Paula Cristina Goncalves. The Swede, a decent clay-court player, should be able to win this first encounter with the Greek.

Johanna Larsson NEWS

Third seed Johanna Larsson gets her first clay win of the season by defeating Ysaline Bonaventure of Belgium in straights sets, 7-6 6-1. Larsson, who served only 45% of her first serves in, got down an early break in the first set, but went 6/6 on break points.
Larsson is the last year’s semifinalist here, reaching the final four by defeating Errani and Cepede Royg, but losing to eventual winner Francesca Schiavone. The Swede has not reached a semifinal since then, going 0-4 in previous four quarterfinals.
The former #45 has won back-to-back matches on only one occasion this season. At Budapest, she defeated #145 Magdalena Frech and #49 Krunic in the indoor hard tournament to set up a clash with the eventual runner-up Cibulkova.

Valentini Grammatikopoulou News

World #183 Valentini Grammatikopoulou scored her first tour-level main draw win by defeating #138 Miyu Kato from a set down in two and half hours (5-7 6-4 6-4).
The debutante got into the main draw by edging past #198 Khromacheva (7-6 7-6) and #223 Mrdeza (4-6 6-4 6-3) in the qualifying rounds. This follows months of poor showing, with a w/l of 4-6, in ITF tournaments this year.
The 21-year-old Greek will potentially post a new career high rank with one more win at Bogota. Her last ITF title on clay came nearly two years ago when she defeated Anna Kalinskaya (by retirement) in $25,000 Minsk final.
