Jeremy Chardy vs Dusan Lajovic Tennis Prediction

Their H2H is tied at 2-2, but Chardy won their only previous meeting on clay in the first round of Houston in 2015. Only five places separate these two in the rankings (Chardy #87 vs. Lajovic #92) and ability wise, there isn’t much between them as well, especially on clay. Considering various factors, it’s a good opportunity for both of them to make a rare quarterfinal appearance at this level.

Dusan Lajovic News

Dusan Lajovic made the most of the circumstances (fatigued opponent) to score a dominant win over last week’s (Budapest) runner-up John Millman in the first round of Istanbul on Tuesday, 6-4 6-0.
After starting the season by winning just one of his opening seven matches, the Serbian has now registered at least one win in his recent six tournaments. This run also includes a title win at Le Gosier Challenger.
However, Lajovic is yet to progress beyond the second round (R16) in a tour-level event since defeating Albert Ramos Vinolas and Adrian Menendez Maceiras in ATP Chengdu 2017 (QF).
In his previous three appearances here at Istanbul, Lajovic faced R16 defeats in 2015 and 2016 but made the quarterfinal in his recent visit in 2017.

Jeremy Chardy News

Jeremy Chardy, making his debut appearance at Istanbul, scored a comfortable straight set win over Nikoloz Basilashvili, who seemed to be in a decent form by making three consecutive quarterfinal appearances on clay in the recent weeks.
The Frenchman ended his poor start to the season with two impressive R16 runs at the Indian Wells and Miami. It was also his best result on tour since reaching the quarterfinal of ATP Montpellier in February 2017.
This time last year, he entered Munich and defeated Jozef Kovalik in the first round before losing to Alexander Zverev in the second.
