Roberto Bautista Agut leads the H2H 2-1 (1-0 on clay), including winning their recent two meetings, in Moscow 2015 and Monte Carlo 2015. The Spaniard is a bit more consistent and reliable than the German, but this contest is very evenly poised and could go either way.

Roberto Bautista Agut, who lost to David Goffin in the quarterfinal of ATP Barcelona last week, is making his consecutive quarterfinal appearance by defeating the Norwegian teenager Casper Ruud in a hard-fought straight-set second-round encounter, 6-4 6-3.
This is the Spaniard’s third appearance here at Munich, and he reached the semifinal in his previous two, losing to Andy Murray in 2015 and Alexander Zverev in 2017.
The last time Bautista Agut made consecutive quarterfinal appearances was at Saint Petersburg 2017 and Beijing 2017, where he defeated Viktor Troicki in St.Petersburg before losing to Grigor Dimitrov in Beijing.
Though Agut suffered some uncharacteristic losses against the likes of Michael Mmoh, Cameron Norrie (on clay) and Julien Benneteau, it’s been a successful start to the season having won two titles at Auckland and Dubai (the biggest title of his career).
