Kristyna Pliskova vs Sara Sorribes Tormo Tennis Prediction

Pliskova met Sorribes Tormo en route to her sole WTA title victory at Tashkent in 2016. The Czech survived that first-round encounter in an hour and 50 minutes (6-3 3-6 6-4). Pliskova is the favorite going into this clash, but the Spaniard would be buoyed by her win over Keys and would be looking to repeat it in front of her home crowd.

Kristyna Pliskova News

Kristyna Pliskova edges past fellow qualifier Natalia Vikhlyantseva in a close straight set encounter, 6-4 6-4, in just over an hour. The Czech, who survived a two-hour clash against Ana Bogdan in the qualifying stages, was broken five times by the Russian.
Pliskova arrived at Madrid having not won a match in her previous two stays. In 2016, she fell to Laura Siegemund in the qualifying round (6-2 6-3) and in 2017, she was brushed aside by the eventual champion Simona Halep (6-1 6-2) in the first round.
Pliskova, who started the year with a top 10 win (#7 Ostapenko, Shenzhen), has posted two quarterfinals in this year’s clay season, at Charleston (d. #10 Kvitova, Siniakova and Vesnina) and Prague, where she lost to Buzarnescu while defending runner-up points.

Sara Sorribes Tormo News

Sara Sorribes Tormo secured the first top 20 win of her career (1-7) by shocking the 2017 US Open finalist and world #14 Madison Keys to a straight set defeat (7-5 6-2) in an hour and 34 minutes.
Sorribes Tormo walked onto the court (vs. Keys) having never won a main draw match at a Slam or Premier Mandatory. The Spaniard, who has been awarded her seventh Madrid wildcard this week, had won just one match previously in this tournament, in 2013 qualifying round (d. #58 Beck).
Sorribes Tormo’s best result on the WTA tour is a couple of International semifinal appearances in 2017, Gstaad (l. to Bertens) and Bogota (l. to Arruabarrena). Some of her other notable wins include #36 Makarova, #38 Siniakova and #38 Pavlyuchenkova.
