Kvitova vs Buzarnescu Tennis Prediction

Petra Kvitova continues to crush her opponents as her title defense campaign at Birmingham reached the semifinal stage, defeating Julia Goerges 6-1 6-4 in little over an hour. With 20 winners to nine unforced errors, Kvitova won the first set saving 3/3 break points and facing none in second.
Kvitova has now claimed her 50th career win on grass, which includes two Wimbledon titles in 2011 and 2014. She is one win away from boasting a tour-leading 36 wins in the season, having gone 17-3 against top 30 players and lifted titles at St. Petersburg, Doha, Prague and Madrid.
The Czech is seeking to become the fifth active player to have won multiple WTA grass-court titles. Moreover, she is also bidding to become the first to defend a tour-level grass title outside Wimbledon since 2009 (Tanasugarn at ‘s-Hertogenbosch), while the last to do so at Birmingham was Sharapova (2008-09).
Mihaela Buzarnescu reaches her first Premier-level semifinal after defeating #5 Elina Svitolina for the second time in three weeks, having done so at the French Open third round. The match took just 71 minutes to conclude, as she won 74% behind her serve and saved 3/3 break points.
Buzarnescu has won 94.1% service games this week, the highest among the semifinalists. After consolidating her position in top 20 of the WTA Race, she is bidding to become the first Romanian to reach a Birmingham final, as opposed to the Czechs who have reached the final every year since 2014.
Buzarnescu was ranked outside top 250 this time last year (outside top 500 in January 2017) and had never won a WTA main draw match until Linz. She is now bidding for her third career final after Hobart (l. Mertens) and Prague (l. Kvitova).
The Romanian took the first set off Kvitova when they had their first clash at Prague final, a few weeks ago. The former #2 had to stage a comeback in two hours and eleven minutes to win a WTA title on home soil for the first time. However, this meeting being played on grass will give the Czech more advantage.

Tennis Prediction: Kvitova 2-0 SET
Odds: 1.60
