Nick Kyrgios vs Feliciano Lopez Tennis Prediction

The former world #13 and fourth seed Nick Kyrgios, who was playing his first singles match since ATP Houston (April 2018), put in a shaky performance during his three-set win over the German Maximilian Marterer on Thursday, 6-4 4-6 6-3.
It was his first-ever match in ATP Stuttgart as he started his grass season with the opening round defeat at Queen’s club over the last three seasons, against Stan Wawrinka in 2015, Milos Raonic in 2016 and Donald Young 2017.
Nevertheless, the Australian has got the perfect game to excel in these conditions and has done reasonably well throughout his career. His career-best result on grass was winning the Nottingham 2 Challenger in 2014 and progressing to the quarterfinal of Wimbledon in the same year, where he knocked out Rafael Nadal in the round of 16.
Defending his runner-up points at ATP Stuttgart this week, Feliciano Lopez has so far scored two comfortable wins over Viktor Troicki (R1, 6-1 ret.) and Gilles Simon (R2, 7-6 6-4).
The Spaniard, who loves playing on grass, was going through a three-match losing run before entering ATP Stuttgart but he will now play his third quarterfinal of the season, having lost his previous two against Jared Donaldson in Acapulco and Alex De Minaur in Sydney.
On the positive side, the last time Feliciano Lopez lost a quarterfinal match on grass was against Andy Murray in Wimbledon 2011. Since then, he has played five such matches and managed to win all five.
Their H2H is tied at 2-2, but Nick Kyrgios won their only previous meeting on grass, which came in the third round of Wimbledon 2016. Though Nick Kyrgios has been playing better tennis in the recent seasons, his lack of fitness coupled with Feliciano Lopez’s ability to do well on grass makes this an even contest.
