Leonardo Mayer vs Alexander Zverev Tennis Prediction

Mayer has made to the R16 stage of a Masters 1000 event twice in the past but lost out on both occasions, against Milos Raonic in Madrid 2015 and Juan Maritn Del Potro in Indian Wells 2018.
In this first-ever meeting between these two players, Mayer has got the ability to push Zverev on clay, but the German should be able to prevail in the end.

Alexander Zverev News

Second seed Alexander Zverev kickstarted his second Madrid Masters campaign with a straight-set win over Evgeny Donskoy in the second round (R1 bye), who scored three wins as an underdog earlier this week, against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Pierre Hughes Herbert, and Stefano Travaglia.
The German is now on a five-match winning streak which includes his first title of the season at ATP Munich last week, where he successfully defended his title without much trouble.
Zverev is now defending his quarterfinal points at the Madrid Masters this week. Making his Madrid Masters debut in 2017, Alexander Zverev entered the main draw as an unseeded player (seeded #2 this week) and defeated the likes of Fernando Verdasco, Marin Cilic, and Tomas Berdych before losing to Pablo Cuevas in the quarterfinal.
The world #3 has made at least the semifinal in four of his last five tournaments, at Acapulco (SF), Miami (F), Monte Carlo (SF) and Munich (W).

Leonardo Mayer News

Starting as an underdog, Leonardo Mayer has produced two dominant performances to defeat Fabio Fognini and Fernando Verdasco so far this week. Doing so, he equaled his previous best Madrid result of an R16 appearance in 2015 (lost to former world #3 Milos Raonic).
This is a much-needed run for the Argentinian considering he faced a disappointing first round exit from Estoril last week (wasted multiple match points) and failed to win back-to-back matches since reaching the R16 at Indian Wells (lost to Juan Martin Del Potro).

Tennis Prediction: Alexander Zverev 2-0 SET
Odds: 1.80
