Ostapenko vs Kerber Tennis Prediction

Thursday, from 13:00, we have the Ostapenko – Kerber game in the Wimbledon tournament semifinals. Both have impressed so far, but the German has a more complete arsenal.
Ostapenko is a 21-year-old Latvian, ranked 12th in the WTA, with a Grand Slam title in recordings at Roland Garros 2017. Last year he also hired his second major trophy in Seoul (KOR).

In 2018, he lost in the first round in Shenzhen and Sydney, and at the Australian Open was taken out in round III. The only result worthy of a champion was the final at Miami (USA). In the inaugural round, he beat Dunne (GBR), score 6-3, 7-6, for the next tournaments to win all in two sets, 6-1, 6-3 with Flipkens (BEL), 6 -0, 6-4 with Diatchenko (RUS), 7-6, 6-0 with Sasnovich (BLR) and 7-5, 6-4 with Cibulkova (SVK).

Kerber is ranked 10th in the WTA ranking, although in 2017 he has only semi-finals in Dubai (UAE) and Tokyo or quarter finals at Indian Wells.

He even started with a title in Sydney and continued his victory in Melbourne, where he stopped in the semifinals. He also made a few quarters of the final (including Roland Garros), but also a semifinal in Dubai. Also in the penultimate act he reached the first grass tour at Eastbourne (GBR). To reach this stage of the competition, he had to eliminate Zvoraneva (RUS), score 7-5, 6-3, Liu (USA), 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, Osaka (JPN), score 6-2, 6-4, Bencic (SUI), 6-3, 7-6, and Kasatkina (RUS), 6-3, 7-5.

Both were very aggressive in return in the quarter-finals, Angi holding Kasatkina at 50% points on the first service, while Ostapenko had 11 break-up opportunities. If in Latvian we were expecting this tactic, Kerber stunned us a little with his attacking blows. But as I said before, the nemtoaica seemed to be a serious candidate for the title win in the first 2-3 matches. The two have not met before, and I will decide to go to the more cerebral player. Of course, Ostapenko’s blows have worked so far, but let’s look at our opponents as well. None of them was able to defend themselves like Kerber. And every ball that the NM returns is an extra chance for Jelena to make a mistake.

Tennis Prediction: Kerber to Win
Odds: 1.64
