Tennis Prediction

Try our tennis prediction for today: Richard Gasquet vs Gilles Simon wich will be played at ATP – SINGLES: Marrakech (Morocco), clay – Quarter-finals.
The former World #7 Richard Gasquet holds an unassailable 8-1 H2H record against the former World #6 Gilles Simon. His only loss came in the first round of Sunrise Challenger in 2010. Gasquet has the mental edge over Simon and will start as the favorite, but Gilles Simon is a tough nut to crack when he is winning matches (he seems to be doing it this week).

Richard Gasquet News

Richard Gasquet dispatched Guillermo Garcia Lopez in straight sets to move into the quarterfinal of ATP Marrakech on his debut appearance, 6-2 6-4. Earlier this week, he had to fight back from a break down (4-5*) in the second set against Thomas Fabbiano before securing the progression in straight sets, 6-1 7-6.
The win against Garcia Lopez was the Frenchman’s best performance since retiring in the first round of ATP Rotterdam in February. In fact, he was on a four-match losing run before entering Marrakech.
Despite the recent fitness struggles, Richard Gasquet will now play his second quarterfinal of the season. He previously defeated Damir Dzumhur (6-4 6-2) in the quarterfinal of ATP Montpellier (lost to Lucas Pouille in the final).
The last time Gasquet made the quarterfinal of a clay ATP Tour event was at Estoril last season where he lost to Kevin Anderson in three sets.

Gilles Simon

After winning the rollercoaster first round match against Benoit Paire, Gilles Simon managed to secure a straight-set win over Roberto Carballes Baena. Nevertheless, it was yet another typical ‘Simon’ performance as he went down 1-4* (double break) in the first set but managed to mount a comeback, 7-5 6-1.
This is the first time Gilles Simon has progressed beyond the second round of a tournament (nine attempts) since winning the title at Pune in the first week of January.
Gilles Simon’s last four quarterfinal appearances on clay have ended in defeats, against Tomas Berdych (Lyon 2017), Alexander Zverev (Nice 2016), Pablo Carreno Busta (Estoril 2016) and Daniel Gimeno Traver (Bucharest 2015).
