Roberto Bautista Agut, who entered ATP Marseille after facing a disappointing Davis Cup defeat against Cameron Norrie on the clay courts of Marbella, Spain (after leading by two sets), suffered yet another disappointing loss at the hands of Julien Benneteau in the first round of ATP Marseille last week.
The Spaniard has entered four tournaments so far in 2018, won the title at Auckland (Juan Martin Del Potro) but lost his opening matches in the other three tournaments, at Pune (Gilles Simon), Australian Open (Fernando Verdasco) and Marseille (Julien Benneteau).

Florian Mayer Tennis Pick

After retiring from his last match of 2017 (vs. Cilic at Basel), the German made a decent start to the new season, winning matches against Benjamin Mitchell, Watanuki, JP Smith and playing some tough matches against the like of Tsitsipas and Estrella Burgos. However, he lost two matches at Sofia earlier this month, one in the qualifying stages against Ernests Gulbis and another one in the main draw (as a lucky loser) against Mirza Basic.
After competing at ATP Sofia in the first week of February, the 34-year-old German traveled to South America to compete in ATP Buenos Aires where he lost his first-round match to Federico Delbonis. He has now decided to come all way to the Middle East instead of the South American clay (Sao Paulo) and North American hardcourt event (Acapulco).
Florian Mayer made the quarterfinal once here in 2011 but faced first-round exits in his other two appearances, one of those defeats came against a Spanish Opponent, Juan Carlos Ferrero in 2005.
