Roger Federer vs Milos Raonic Tennis Prediction

Roger Federer is through to the Stuttgart final for the first time in his career with a comeback win over Nick Kyrgios in the semifinal, 6-7 6-2 7-6. Apart from losing the first set, he also trailed the deciding set tiebreaker by a mini-break (1-3*). Earlier this week, he scored a similar comeback win over the German veteran Mischa Zverev in the opening round (R16).
With this win over Nick Kyrgios, Roger Federer guarantees himself the top spot in the ATP Rankings next Monday. This will be the third time the Swiss #1 replaces Rafael Nadal as the world #1 in 2018.
Earlier this season, Roger Federer became the #1 by securing the title at ATP Rotterdam but could only finish as the runner-up at the following tournament, losing to Juan Martin Del Potro in the final of Indian Wells.
“I’m very happy, very relieved. I thought it was a tough match like I expected against Nick. We’ve played so many breakers already, I’m losing count. It was close. It could have gone either way, naturally. But I’m happy I got it and get back to World No. 1 next Monday, so it’s very exciting. And I’ve got another final, so it’s great news.” – Roger Federer after his win against Nick Kyrgios.
Roger Federer has won 17 titles on grass so far in his career and the last time he suffered a defeat in the final of a grass tournament was against Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon 2015.
ATP Stuttgart debutant, Milos Raonic, progressed to the final with a straight-set win over the defending champion Lucas Pouille. Raonic has played four matches this week, and he is yet to drop a set (against Mirza Basic, Marton Fuscovics and Tomas Berdych).
Impressively, the big-serving Canadian’s serve is yet to be broken this week, and he has exposed only three break points on his own serve, one against Lucas Pouille (SF) and two against Tomas Berdych (QF).
Milos Raonic, who made his comeback from injury earlier this season and was forced to pull out of the French Open and Madrid Masters recently, is satisfied with the progress he has made this week, “It’s a really positive step forward for me. I’ve played good tennis this week. I’m very happy with myself and I hope I can continue to improve my level tomorrow.”
Former world #3 Milos Raonic is yet to win a title on tour since defeating Roger Federer in the final of ATP Brisbane in 2016. His most recent finals appearance ended in a straight-set defeat against Marin Cilic at ATP Istanbul in 2017.
Roger Federer leads the H2H 10-3, including winning three of their previous four meetings on grass. The Swiss #1 will once again start as the favorite, but Milos Raonic has got the ability to deliver results in these conditions if he can keep himself fit.
