Sara Errani vs Zarina Diyas Tennis Prediction

Errani brushed aside Diyas, 6-4 6-1 when they first met at the second round of Stuttgart in 2015. The Italian was then ranked #15, while the Kazakh was #32. Three years later, their relative position in the rankings has changed, but the former French Open finalist remains a slight favorite.

Sara Errani News

Sara Errani’s confident season was jolted after she was convincingly defeated by Mertens and Van Uytvanck at the Fed Cup home tie. This was disappointing for her since she had defeated Suarez Navarro and Arruabarrena in the first round tie in February.
Errani has been successful in her quest to return to the top 100 this season, after dropping out of it last year. After her anti-doping ban expired last October, she has won two titles ($60k, Suzhou and $125k Indian Wells) and reached a WTA semifinal at Tianjin.
Errani made her debut at Rabat last year, reaching as far as the semifinals. Entering the tournament ranked #102, she defeated two top 50 players, #26 Gavrilova and #40 Riske, but fell to top-seed Pavlyuchenkova.

Zarina Diyas News

Zarina Diyas is having a steady 2018 season so far. Starting the year with a quarterfinal at Shenzhen (l. to Sharapova), she has made a good couple of round of 16 runs at Indian Wells (def. Kuznetsova, ret. to Pliskova) and Stuttgart (qualifier, l. to Ostapenko).
At Stuttgart, Diyas won her first WTA main draw match on clay since May 2015 (def. #108 Shelby Rogers in the first round of Strasbourg).
The top-ranked Kazakh player won her first WTA title last year in September at the Japan Women’s Open (Tokyo), having lost the final of the same tournament three years ago when it was held at Osaka (l. to Stosur).
