Ashleigh Barty vs Ying-Ying Duan Tennis Prediction

Top seed Ashleigh Barty begins her grass season at Nottingham with a 6-3 6-3 win over Stefanie Voegele. It was a clinical performance by the Australian, winning 21/27 (78%) on her first serve, 17/18 (94%) on her second and saving all three break points.
Barty has entering Nottingham’s quarterfinal in both of her previous stays, in 2016 (qualifier, l. Pliskova) and 2017 (l. Konta). Last year, she went on to reach her first Premier final on the grass courts of Birmingham, defeating future Wimbledon champion Muguruza.
Ying-Ying Duan secured her first tour-level main draw win since February, defeating Russian qualifier and world #288 Valerie Savinykh in straight sets (6-2 6-2). The Chinese put 84% of her first serves in and struck eight aces in this 52-minute match.
The 29-year-old has reached five tour-level quarterfinals in her career (all on hard), the last of which came at 2017 Kuala Lumpur. Duan, who has gone 2-17 against top 20 players, has never won more than one WTA main draw match on grass in any season.
Barty is 8-1 against outside top 100 players in the last twelve months, with the sole loss coming against Serena Williams at the French Open. This will be her first meeting with Duan, and she should be able to post her third consecutive quarterfinal at Nottingham.

Tennis Prediction: Ashleigh Barty 2-0 SET
