Barty, who was 2017’s Birmingham runner-up (l. Kvitova), started the grass season with her second career title at Nottingham (won 2017 Kuala Lumpur), defeating Konta in the final. The eighth seed has won eight matches on grass this year so far, one more than the entire clay season.
Barty is heading into this clash with a 4-10 career record against top 10 players (0-2 on grass), with three of those wins coming at just one tournament, 2017 Wuhan. En route to the final of that Chinese tournament, she defeated #4 Pliskova, #7 Konta and #10 Ostapenko.
This will be the pair’s third meeting, second in the season. Wozniacki has won those two previous encounters, at 2017 Cincinnati (6-4 6-2) and 2018 Madrid (6-2 2-6 6-4). This time around, the Australian #1 looks to be in excellent form to threaten Wozniacki’s perfect record against her.
