Coco Vandeweghe vs Arantxa Rus Tennis Prediction

Two-time champion Coco Vandeweghe begins her grass season with a 6-2 7-6 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich, ending the match in an hour and 47 minutes on her seventh match point. The American lost only four points on her first serve, going 11/11 in the first set and 16/20 in the second.
Vandeweghe, who lifted the title at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2014 and 2016, is only the third woman to win multiple times here, after Justine Henin and Tamarine Tanasugarn. Since 2016, she has appeared in three more finals, including one at Stuttgart this year, but failed on all three occasions.
Arantxa Rus won her first round match in two hours and 23 minutes against Ekaterina Alexandrova in a third set tiebreaker after saving two match points, 6-7 6-4 7-6. This is the Dutch’s longest match since Acapulco (2018), where she lost to Stephens after having a match point.
Rus, bidding to reach her second WTA quarterfinal of the season, has been playing at her home tournament since 2007. But, it was only last year that she was able to put together two wins and advance into the last eight stage, losing to eventual finalist Vikhlyantseva.
The pair met each other in their only previous meeting here at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the qualifying rounds of 2011. It was the Dutch who defeated Vandeweghe in straight sets, 6-4 6-4. This time around, Vandeweghe is expected to avenge that loss and secure a place in the quarterfinals.
