Dominic Thiem vs Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Prediction

Dominic Thiem’s prolific clay season came to a disappointing end as he fell cheaply to Rafael Nadal in the final of the French Open (4-6 3-6 2-6). He managed to win 24 matches on clay in 2018 (24/6) which includes two titles at Buenos Aires and Lyon, and two runner-up finishes at the Madrid Masters and French Open.
After the successful French Open campaign, Thiem took a short break and began his Wimbledon preparation at ATP Halle. Entering the main draw of ATP Halle as the third seed, he just managed to scrape past Mikhail Youzhny in the first round before losing to Yuichi Sugita in the second round.
Apart from losing to Luke Saville in the first round of Wimbledon 2014 (debut), he has managed to clear the first round hurdle in the following three appearances. However, the Austrian #1 hasn’t got a great record on grass, having gone 14/14 on this surface so far in his career.
Playing his first match since retiring against Santiago Giraldo in the first round of the French Open, Marcos Baghdatis was beaten in straight sets by Blaz Kavcic in the first round of ATP Antalya last week.
The Cypriot has appeared here 13 times in the past and posted excellent results between 2006-2008 by reaching the semifinal, quarterfinal, and round of 16 in three consecutive seasons.
Ability wise, Marcos Baghdatis is far superior to Dominic Thiem on grass. However, Baghdatis’ lack of fitness hinders his chances at this level.

Tennis Picks: Dominic Thiem 3-0 SET
Odds: 1.95
