Gastao Elias vs Alex De Minaur Tennis Prediction

This will be the first meeting between these two players. Though neither of them is going through their best period at the moment, Alex De Minaur is different class and expect him to have the upper hand in this contest.

Gastao Elias News

After losing two Davis Cup singles rubbers to Ymer brothers in the first week of April 2018, Gastao Elias entered two clay Challenger events but could register just two wins, which came against players who have their own issues, Tepavac (returning from injury) and Goncalo Oliveira (poor form in 2018).
Elias has won just eight matches from the possible 22 so far in 2018, and he is yet to win back-to-back matches. This poor start to the season also includes two defeats in a single week at Rio de Janeiro, when he lost the final qualifying match to Facundo Bagnis and round of 16 match to Federico Delbonis as a lucky loser.
This is the Portuguese’s fourth consecutive appearance at his home event (Estoril) with his only previous win coming against Malek Jaziri in the first round of 2017 edition.
Irrespective of his poor record in 2018 and Estoril, Gastao Elias is a seasoned clay courter who is capable of producing some serious performances on a good day. He has won nearly 300 matches on clay so far in his career (271/183), including seven Challenger titles (all on clay).

Alex De Minaur News

Though Alex De Minaur finished as the runner-up at Alicante Challenger earlier this month, his recent results aren’t in the same level as the start he made to the season by winning the Australian Open wildcard playoff, reaching the semifinal at Brisbane and finishing as the runner-up at Sydney.
After an exhausting December 2017 and January 2018, the Aussie took a one-month break from tennis and returned to action at the Indian Wells last month and has struggled to produce top performance since then (by the standards he set in January).
Partnering with his mentor Lleyton Hewitt (coming out of retirement), Alex De Minaur in competing in the doubles draw of Estoril this week. The last and only time he played singles and doubles in the same tournament since the start of 2017 season was at Alicante Challenger last month, where he finished as the runner-up in singles and faced opening-round exit in doubles (partnering Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol).
