Marcos Baghdatis vs Karen Khachanov Tennis Prediction

Marcos Baghdatis scored the biggest win of his season by knocking out the world #7 Dominic Thiem in the first round of Wimbledon. Baghdatis was cruising towards a comfortable straight set win before the Austrian pulled out of the contest, trailing 4-6 5-7 0-2.
Throughout his career, the former Australian open runner up, Marcos Baghdatis, has gifted more than 30 wins to his opponents through retirement, but for a change, he has now won a match via opponent’s retirement.
This win against Thiem ended the Cypriot #1’s seven-match losing run on the tour which stretches back to the Indian Wells (in March 2018), where he progressed to the round of 16 (as a qualifier) before pulling out of the tournament, due to illness.
Former world #8 Marcos Baghdatis’ best result at Wimbledon came in 2006-2007 when he made it to the semifinal and quarterfinal in consecutive seasons. However, he lost his second round match to Grigor Dimitrov here in 2017. Additionally, he lost his second round match at the Australian Open 2018 to a Russian youngster, Andrey Rublev, in four sets (faces another Russian youngster on Thursday).
Karen Khachanov fends off a spirited fightback from David Ferrer to seal the progression in four sets, 6-1 7-6 3-6 7-5. Making his Wimbledon main draw debut in 2017, the talented Russian defeated Andrey Kuznetsov (R1) and Thiago Monteiro (R2) before losing to Rafael Nadal in the third round.
After losing to Juan Martin Del Potro in the second round of the Australian Open earlier this season, Karen Khahanov equaled his career-best slam result by progressing to the round of 16 at the French Open a few weeks back, where he defeated Guillermo Garcia Lopez in the second round.
This will be the first meeting between these two players. Though Marcos Baghdatis has got the ability to challenge the top 40 players, lack of fitness makes it difficult for him to win the best-of-five sets matches on a consistent basis, especially against a young gun.
