Milos Raonic vs Mirza Basic Tennis Prediction

Milos Raonic, seeded #7 this week, will make his debut at ATP Stuttgart on Tuesday. The Canadian usually starts his grass season from ATP Halle or ATP Queen’s club, but given his lack of form and fitness this season, he has decided to give himself more preparation time for Wimbledon.
It’s on grass where Milos Raonic’s most of the career success has come at, such as finishing as the runner-up at Wimbledon (2016), reaching the semifinal of Wimbledon (2014), quarterfinal of Wimbledon (2017), runner-up finish at Queen’s club (2016) and a quarterfinal appearance at Queen’s Club (2015).
Former world #3 Milos Raonic, who returned to action from a right calf injury earlier this season, pulled out of his R16 match at the Monte Carlo Masters citing a right knee injury. However, the Canadian soon returned to the action at the Madrid Masters but did not look comfortable and later decided to skip the French Open.
Milos Raonic is far from his best in 2018, but the next 30-40 days is his best chance to achieve something this season. He will be desperate to make a good start to the campaign, and it will be interesting to see if he can do it, considering his recent fitness issues.
Mirza Basic failed in the qualifying stages of ATP Stuttgart in his previous two visits in 2016 and 2017, but improved ranking has earned him direct entry into the main draw this time around.
The Bosnian achieved his career-high ranking of #74 earlier this season, thanks to winning his maiden tour title at ATP Sofia (as a qualifier) and reaching the quarterfinal at ATP Doha.
The last time Mirza Basic won a match on grass was against Ante Pavic at Ilkley challenger in 2015. He played six matches on this surface in 2016 and 2017 but failed to register even a single win (0/6).
Given Mirza Basic’s struggles on grass, this is an ideal first-round matchup for Milos Raonic, and he should be able to secure his progression without much trouble.

Tennis Prediction: Milos Raonic 2-0 SET
