Petra Kvitova vs Kateryna Bondarenko Tennis Prediction

Petra Kvitova is coming off lifting her 25th career title at Birmingham, defending a WTA title for the second time in her career by prevailing over Magdalena Rybarikova in the final. It was her fifth trophy of the year, with the previous ones coming in pairs (St. Petersburg – Doha and Prague – Madrid).
Kvitova is a former finalist of Eastbourne, reaching that stage in 2011 as the debutante, defeating the likes of Hantuchova, Radwanska, Makarova, and Sevastova (l. Bartoli). She hasn’t lost an opening round match here in her last three appearances, which includes a quarterfinal in 2014.
Kateryna Bondarenko, who overcame Ana Konjuh and Eden Silva in the qualifying stages, took out #42 Alize Cornet in the first round, defeating the Frenchwomen in two hours (4-6 6-2 6-4) to secure her first top 50 win since the Australian Open (d. #18 Pavlyuchenkova).
The Ukrainian debuted at Eastbourne in 2016 as a qualifier, losing to the eventual champion Cibulkova. She holds an 8-24 record against top 10 players, with the recent-most such win coming against Muguruza at 2017 Dubai via retirement. Her last main draw win over a lefty came at 2016 Charleston (d. Doi).
Kvitova leads the head-to-head record against Bondarenko by 3-2, including winning their latest encounter (2017 Stanford, 6-2 6-2) and their only clash on grass (2012 London Olympics). Bondarenko’s two wins against the Czech came way back in 2010 (Moscow and New Haven).

Tennis Prediction: Petra Kvitova 2-0
