This is the first meeting between these two players. Albert Ramos Vinolas has got massive experience at this level compared to the Russian, but Vatutin, playing to the best of his ability, can push the former World #17 all the way in this second round contest.

Albert Ramos News

Top seed Albert Ramos Vinolas breezed past the local wildcard Amine Ahouda in just over an hour to register only his second win in this tournament (three appearances), 6-1 6-2.
It was also a welcome win for the Spaniard who lost his previous two matches to Nicolas Jarry (Sao Paulo) and Borna Coric (Indian Wells).
The World #23 previously entered as the top seed at Sydney and Sao Paulo but failed to win more than one match on both occasions, lost to Paolo Lorenzi at Sydney (R1) and Nicolas Jarry at Sao Paulo (QF, R1 bye). He will now be hoping to avoid a similar fate when he takes on Alexey Vatutin this Wednesday.
Albert Ramos Vinolas has already entered four clay court tournaments so far this season and managed to produce some notable results such as finishing as the runner-up at Quito and making the quarterfinal at Sao Paulo. Overall, he has won seven matches on clay so far in 2018 (7/4), including his two wins over Cameron Norrie and Liam Broady in the Davis Cup.

Alexey Vatutin News

Alexey Vatutin secured his third win of the week when he fought back from a set down to beat Jan Lennard Struff on Tuesday. He previously defeated Alex de Minaur and Enrique Lopez Perez in the qualifying stages to secure his maiden main draw berth in Marrakech (debut appearance).
The win against Stuff was also his maiden main draw win on ATP World Tour. It was a much-needed result (three wins this week) for the talented Russian as he was going through a four-match losing run before entering ATP Marrakech.
Though Alexey Vatutin has the tendency to switch off completely at times, he is an extremely talented player and has managed to win at least 50 matches in every season over the last three years. His 65 match wins in 2017 includes three ITF titles and one Challenger title (Poznan Challenger, clay).
