Sanchez, playing with the main draw wildcard, had previously received two more main draw and three qualifying wildcard entries here at Monterrey. But, all those endeavors ended in straight set losses for the Mexican.
The winner of 12 lower-level ITF titles, Sanchez, was one set away from winning her 13th one, when she took a set off former #12 Yanina Wickmayer in the final of $25,000 Surprise (USA), earlier in the season.
