Samantha Stosur, defending her second Internationaux de Strasbourg title this week, starts with a 6-3 6-2 win over American teenager Sofia Kenin in the first round. Hitting 22 winners, including 12 aces, Stosur wrapped the match in an hour and 12 minutes.
Stosur arrived at Strasbourg having suffered her sixth opening-round defeat of the 2018 season, at the hands of Van Uytvanck in Rome. Defending fourth round points at French Open next week, the former #4 is at the risk of falling out of top 100 for the first time since July 2008.
