Stan Wawrinka vs Jared Donaldson Tennis Prediction

Wawrinka fought back from a set down to win their only previous meeting in the second round of Cincinnati in 2016 (Donaldson’s home event). Given the former world #3’s lack of fitness and match time, here’s Donaldson’s chance to level the H2H in Wawrinka’s home.

Stan Wawrinka News

Playing his first competitive match in nearly three months, Stan Wawrinka was comfortably beaten by Steve Johnson in the first round of Rome Masters last week, 4-6 4-6. He will now face yet another American opponent (Jared Donaldson) in the second round of ATP Geneva (R1 bye).
Making his comeback from the injury earlier this season, the Swiss has played eight matches but lost five of them. He is currently on a four-match losing run as well (Ivashka, Griekspoor, Basic and Johnson).
Stan Wawrinka shouldn’t be asking for a better place to get some wins under his belt as he has got an excellent record here at Geneva (home tournament). Making his debut here in 2015, he progressed to the quarterfinals and managed to win this title in the following two seasons, in 2016 and 2017.

Jared Donaldson News

Jared Donaldson snapped his five-match losing run by fighting back from a set down against Denis Istomin in the first round, 5-7 6-4 6-0, who has been struggling with injuries this season.
For the second time in two days, the American youngster takes on an opponent who is not in his best condition physically. Though Wawrinka is different class to Istomin, it will be interesting to see if Donaldson can make the most of the circumstances.
Making his ATP Geneva debut in 2017, the American youngster defeated Victor Estrella Burgos in the first round but lost to Kevin Anderson in the second. In fact, his win against Istomin on Monday was his first win on clay since that first round win over Estrella Burgos here in Geneva last season.
