Stefanos Tsitsipas was denied the main draw wildcard in Rome despite posting impressive results on clay in the recent weeks. But it did not matter much for the Greek teenager as he secured two wins over Mikhail Kukushkin and Dusan Lajovic in the qualifying stages.
After playing out ten tough and grueling matches in consecutive weeks at Barcelona and Estoril, Tsitsipas lost to Evgeny Donskoy in the first round of Madrid Masters last week. He created 20 break point opportunities during the match but could convert just one of them.

Playing only his second clay tournament of the season in Madrid last week, Borna Coric produced two dominant performances against Pablo Carreno Busta and Jan Lennard Struff before losing out to the eventual runner-up Dominic Thiem in the round of 16.
It was a disappointing defeat for the Croatian youngster considering he had the chance to serve for the match in the second set but failed to close it out, 6-2 6-7 4-6.
