After several WTA and ATP tournaments were canceled or rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the female and male circuit rankings were frozen.

Asked on Twitter by a fan about to score points from Australian canceled tournaments, Darren Cahill, Simona Halep’s coach, came up with a calculating idea.

“All the rankings were frozen. I think the ATP and WTA representatives will meet when they know that the tournaments may resume and come up with a correct way of calculating. Maybe there will be a system on the last two at canceled tournaments. To count 25% this year and 75% next year. Something like that, “Cahill wrote.

Currently, the ATP and WTA rankings gather the points earned by players over the last 12 months. No tennis tournament will be played earlier than June 7, so it will reach 3 months without matches and, implicitly, no points for players.

Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, Madrid or Rome being among the most canceled tournaments. The Roland Garros tournament was rescheduled for the end of September.
