Tennis Prediction

Try our tennis pick for online betting: Heather Watson vs Taylor Townsend at WTA – SINGLES: Charleston (USA), clay.
Townsend’s recent-most loss, in the first qualifying match of Miami Open, came to a Brit, #208, Katie Boulter. She is 5-3 overall against British players but has never met any Brit ranked as high as Watson. While Watson is ranked higher, Townsend could be a dangerous player on her day which makes this an even contest.

Heather Watson News

Heather Watson has hit a rough patch since advancing to the semifinal of Hobart International (as a qualifier), nearly three months ago. She is yet to win a WTA match since losing that semifinal to the eventual champion, Elise Mertens.
Watson did win a couple of singles rubbers in the Fed Cup weekend at Estonia two months ago, defeating #769 Francisca Jorge and #268 Dalma Galfi. She also secured the doubles title at Acapulco, partnering with Tatjana Maria.
Watson doesn’t have a spectacular record at Charleston. She has made three main draw appearances at the green clay tournament (twice as a qualifier) but never been able to advance to the second round.

Taylor Townsend News

Taylor Townsend’s season-start has been no less gloomy. She was on a five-match losing streak, dating back to Auckland, which was broken when she defeated Andrea Petkovic and Naomi Broady in the qualifying rounds of Indian Wells.
She made her debut at Charleston back in 2013, ranked #349, thanks to a wildcard. She lost to Petkovic in the first round, and it would not be until this year that she is ranked high enough for direct entry (played qualifyings in 2014 and 2017).
