Roger Federer vs Mischa Zverev Tennis Prediction

Roger Federer returns to the action for the first time since failing to defend his title at Miami in March 2018. After suffering a shock defeat at the hands of Thanasi Kokkinakis in the opening round of the Miami Open, the Swiss #1 decided to skip the entire clay swing, for the second consecutive season.
Rafael Nadal’s impressive results on clay over the last two months mean Roger Federer lost his position at the top of ATP standings. However, the 20-time grand slam champion can regain the spot by reaching the finals at ATP Stuttgart this week.
Making only his second appearance at Stuttgart in 2017, Roger Federer was upset by Tommy Haas in the opening round, 6-2 6-7 4-6. In 2016, he was upset by Dominic Thiem in the semifinal, who hasn’t got a great record on clay.
Roger Federer made an excellent start to the season as he went on a 21-match winning streak, which includes titles at the Hopman Cup, Australian Open, and Rotterdam, but he lost his recent two matches, against Juan Martin Del Potro in Indian Wells and Thanasi Kokkinakis in Miami.
Mischa Zverev defeated the qualifier Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets to progress into the second round of ATP Stuttgart for the fifth time in his career. In 2017, Zverev reached the semifinal by defeating Tommy Haas in the quarterfinal, who had beaten Roger Federer in the round of 16.
Facing the most successful player on grass is a big test for Mischa Zverev, and the challenge gets even tougher considering only twice he managed to win a second-round match so far in 2018 (17 tournaments), against Lucas Pouille in Monte Carlo and Sergiy Stakhovsky in French Open.
Roger Federer won all their previous five meetings in straight sets, with three of them coming on grass. In these conditions, Roger Federer will be the favorite against any opponent but his lack of match time should give a glimmer of hope for the German. Additionally, the off-field stuff going on with Roger Federer (contract negotiations with Nike) at the moment could probably be a slight distraction as well.

Tennis Prediction: Roger Federer 2-0 SET
Odds: 1.53
