Stan Wawrinka vs Sam Querrey Tennis Prediction

Stan Wawrinka produced his best performance since coming back from the injury layoff earlier this season when he defeated Cameron Norrie, 6-2 6-3, in the first round of ATP London on Monday.
It was a much-needed win for the former Swiss #1 who had won only one of his recent seven matches (in 2018) and also faced first-round defeat in his previous two appearances at ATP London (2017 and 2016).
Stan Wawrinka progressed to the semifinal of ATP London in 2014 which is also his best result in this tournament. However, he lost his recent round of 16 match to Kevin Anderson in 2015.
Failure to defend his title at Geneva and runner-up points at the French Open has seen Wawrinka drop to #261 in the latest ATP Rankings. The last time he was ranked outside #200 was way back in 2003 (#215).
Sam Querrey comfortably dispatched the wildcard entrant Jay Clarke in straight sets to advance into the second round of ATP London. It was only the American’s second win in seven tour matches.
Former world #11 Sam Querrey registered some big wins on grass in the recent years such as defeating Andy Murray in the quarterfinal of Wimbledon 2017 and Novak Djokovic in the third round of Wimbledon 2016.
The big-serving American won his first and so far only grass title here at ATP London in 2010. Apart from that, he also made the semifinal once and quarterfinal very recently in 2017.
Stan Wawrinka leads the H2H 5-1 including winning their previous meeting on grass (R16, ATP London 2014). Regardless of the H2H, Sam Querrey will head into this clash as the favorite as he is the better player in these conditions and Stan Wawrinka is nowhere near his best at the moment.

Tennis Prediction: Sam Querrey
Odds: 1.60
