Tennis Picks 80%

Tennis Picks for this day is Nicolas Mahut vs Ilya Ivashka at ATP – SINGLES: Marseille (France), hard (indoor) – Quarter-finals.
The Frenchman has got the experience on his side but Ivashka has got the potential to do well at this level, and he will not get a better opportunity to make his semifinal debut on ATP World Tour.

Ilya Ivashka News

Stan Wawrinka, who is still struggling to recover from the knee injury, gifted Ilya Ivashka his first ever quarterfinal spot in an ATP Tour event when he decided to retire at the start of the second set, trailing 4-6 1-1.
The win against the Swiss #2 was the Belarussian youngster’s tenth win of the season and fourth win of the week. Since losing the first set of the week to Oscar Otte in QR1 (4-6 6-1 7-6), Ivashka has secured three straight sets win over Kenny de Schepper, Laslo Djere, and Stan Wawrinka.
Ilya Ivashka impressed in 2016 with over 50 match wins which certainly taken its toll on his fitness as he was forced to retire during his match in October 2016. He was more cautious with scheduling in 2017 as he played just 48 matches in the entire season, winning 25 of them (25/23) including a title at the Fergana Challenger.
Ivashka’s previous quarterfinal match came at Koblenz Challenger earlier in the season where he defeated a home player, Yannick Maden, in straight sets.
He will face another home player (Nicolas Mahut) in his second quarterfinal of the season (first ever on tour).

Nicolas Mahut News

Nicolas Mahut has entered ATP Marseille 13 times in the past, and only twice he has progressed to the quarterfinals (excluding 2018), lost to Andy Murray in 2008 and Ernests Gulbis 2014.
This is Mahut’s best week of the season as he did not progress beyond the second round in any of the previous four tournaments that he played in 2018.
He even lost two matches at ATP Rotterdam last week, against Daniil Medvedev in the qualifying stages and David Goffin in the first round. (as the lucky loser)
This will be the first meeting between these two players.
