Tennis Picks Daria Kasatkina vs Garbine Muguruza

Muguruza has defeated Kasatkina in both of their encounters. However, the two wins are not the same. In 2015 on the clay courts of Marrakech, Muguruza swept aside the-then ranked #250 Kasatkina, but in the latest meeting at Brisbane last year,
Kasatkina pushed the match to a third set tiebreaker.

Garbine Muguruza News

Garbine Muguruza knocked out the World #7 Caroline Garica for the second time in two weeks. She defeated the Frenchwoman last week in Doha (three sets), but this time around she secured the win in straight sets.
With this win, the Spaniard is back into the semifinals of Dubai Championships after a gap of three years.
She reached the semifinal of the Premier 5 in 2015 while being ranked #24 in the world, defeating Aga Radwanska and Jelena Jankovic.
After not having the best start in Australia, struggling throughout entire January with fitness issues leading her to retire (Brisbane) and withdraw (Sydney) from tournaments, the reigning Wimbledon champion is having a good February in the Middle-East swing.
She has reached the final of the Premier 5 event at Doha, defeating two Top 10 opponents (Halep and Garcia) and she is yet to drop a set this week in Dubai.

Daria Kasatkina News

After having a slow start in Australia, Daria Kasatkina has reached the semifinals in two of her last three tournaments, at St. Petersburg and Dubai (this week).
She has registered wins over former Top 5 players, Radwanska and Konta before knocking out the compatriot and Indian Wells champion, Elena Vesnina in the quarterfinal.

Before this week, Kasatkina only had one Premier-level semifinal which was not on the Russian soil, Charleston (2017) where she won her first WTA title.
She is slated to reach a new career high rank, of at least #22, and she can debut into the Top 20 by winning the semifinal on Friday.
